Perorations (2023-)
organ
Perorations began as an exercise in writing down some of my favorite hymn re-harmonizations. I’ve been playing many of these settings (Beach Spring, Hyfrydol, and Ellacombe especially) for years. After reading through Noel Rawsthorne’s 200 Last Verses I knew I wanted to create my own collection. The problem was that the list of hymns I wanted to reharmonize kept growing. I thought I may reach the end until, inevitably, another hymn tune came into view that I wanted to include in my list. Instead of waiting until the entire collection is complete (which may never happen), you’ll find a book of the first 50 re-harmonizations at the link below. Alternatively, each re-harmonization can be purchased individually. I write re-harmonizations on a regular basis and will continue to make those available individually as I finish them.
Peroration (n) “the concluding part of a speech, typically intended to inspire enthusiasm in the audience.”
