Graeme Shields is an enthusiastic organist, having passion for both secular and religious organ music. He holds new music for the instrument in especially high regard, and has performed contemporary organ concerts all across the American Midwest in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Colorado, and Ontario, Canada. He is a founding member of Vital Organ Project, a composer-organist duo that facilitates the creation and performance of new music featuring the abilities and distinction of the pipe organ. VOP has been the the catalyst for more than 15 world premieres and over 20 concert events since its inception in 2017. VOP also utilizes the educational aspects of concert events, regularly inviting audience interaction and post- (or in-) concert discussions about the new repertoire for organ.

Graeme is an active member of the American Guild of Organists. He served as Councillor (2016-18) and Sub Dean (2018-19) for the Southwest Michigan Chapter during which time he was responsible for the rental and showcase of an Orgelkids instrument, a build-able and playable organ used for educational purposes. The instrument was brought to schools, businesses, and churches for a week of concerts and presentations in four Michigan cities.

As a church musician, Graeme is currently serving as the organist at Zion Lutheran in Middletown, OH. Aside from his knowledge of the Lutheran Liturgy, he also has extensive experience providing music for Episcopal, Methodist, and Presbyterian congregations.
